Chief Human Resources Officer
Gay Burns is Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA). She joined RGA in 2011 to create global human resources strategies designed to support RGA’s future growth and development. Her responsibilities include such topics as talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, people development, workforce planning and process efficiency.
Gay came to RGA with more than a decade of global experience in human resource management in reinsurance and other financial services. Prior to joining RGA, she was with Swiss Reinsurance, where she was Managing Director, Talent Development and previously Managing Director, Global HR Operations. While there, she spent three years working in Swiss Re’s Zurich (Switzerland) headquarters.
Her career in reinsurance began as a human resources executive with General Electric’s reinsurance business (Employer’s Reinsurance Corporation), following several increasingly responsible positions within GE Capital’s credit card and vehicle leasing businesses. During Gay’s 17 years with GE, she held roles in all areas of human resources as well as GE’s Six Sigma organization, in which she became a certified Black Belt.
Gay received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) from Missouri Southern State University, and her Master of Business Administration degree (M.B.A.) from Webster University, in Missouri.
