RGA Reinsurance Company opened its representative office in Korea in July, 2002 and received its branch license in April, 2005. Despite the relatively recent start, RGA Korea has grown to become the leading life reinsurer in terms of new business written¹. The company’s growth was initially due to its involvement in the very first Korean Critical Illness product launched in 2002 for which our client won an industry award for product quality. Critical Illness insurance has since developed into a tremendous sales success for both our client and the Korean insurance industry generally. We have continued to grow through adding value into our reinsurance partnerships and by building on our leading position in Korea as the life reinsurer by which others are now benchmarked.

Today, RGA's Korea Branch supports multiple lines of individual and group life reinsurance business, with treaties in place with the majority of the country’s top 10 life insurance companies. RGA's Korea Branch is highly regarded for its unique expertise in areas such as traditional life reinsurance, facultative underwriting, financial reinsurance, pricing, product development and distribution.
