RGA entered the South African life reinsurance market in 1999 and since then, building on its core competency of facultative underwriting services, the company has added actuarial, product development and claims management professionals to its business. RGA South Africa’s offices in the financial services centers of Johannesburg and Cape Town provide a national footprint and ensure localized support to clients based in and around these cities, as well as to clients in neighboring Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho.

Since its formation, the company has expanded its life reinsurance products to match the requirements of the local market. RGA South Africa supports all lines of individual and group life reinsurance business with both traditional and non-traditional solutions, and has treaties in place with all the major direct life insurance companies in the region.
