Mike has more than 25 years of insurance and reinsurance experience, which includes directing U.S. Group Reinsurance since 2002. Before joining U.S. Group Reinsurance, Mike was a Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary for Mid-America Mutual Life Insurance Company and a Senior Manager in the actuarial consulting practice of Deloitte & Touche. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.


Dean Abbott

Dean joined U.S. Group Reinsurance in 2003 and has been in the insurance and reinsurance industry since 1986. He is responsible for pricing, valuation, accounting and financial reporting. His previous work experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Actuary of the Individual Reinsurance Division of Allianz. Dean is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.


Steve Abood

Steve has 29 years of insurance and reinsurance industry experience and has been with U.S. Group Reinsurance since 2008. Steve's background includes serving as Senior Vice President and Underwriting Manager for Munich Re America and as a Valuation Actuary for Prudential Healthcare and Anthem Health and Life Insurance Company. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.


Jeffrey Birkholz

Jeff has been with U.S. Group Reinsurance since 1990 and his areas of expertise include underwriting, marketing, product development and operations for domestic and international businesses. Jeff leads the Operations Unit which includes overseeing account management, claims, client services, retrocession and premium administration, and communications. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.

Michelle has more than 25 years experience in health insurance and reinsurance with expertise in managed healthcare plans, stop-loss underwriting and insurance operations. She is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.


Jim Rathburn

Jim is responsible for the overall management and profitability of the Group Life, Accident and Disability Reinsurance unit and oversees the marketing, underwriting and account management aspects of the business. His responsibilities include managing and expanding key relationships, as well as development of products and distribution sources. He has been with U.S. Group Reinsurance since 1995 and has extensive insurance and reinsurance experience.
