Client-Driven Research Services

Our research department was established to help clients use the combined knowledge of our large network of life and accident insurers.

We conduct industry surveys on various topics of interest to our colleagues in Canada and the U.S. The detailed results, shared only with participating companies, help our clients make market-wise decisions and develop policies and procedures that are consistent with current trends. All information is released in a confidential format. RGA has published findings on a broad array of life and health issues -- topics of current interest dominate all of our research efforts.

In addition to formal surveys, we conduct informal surveys on specific areas of interest to our clients, provide research assistance and attend or participate in numerous seminars and industry meetings. Whenever possible, we help 'connect' our client's professionals with their counterparts in the industry.

Risk Management Services

Today it's clear that the threat of terrorism or a natural disaster has to be considered when assessing risk. Unfortunately, the catastrophe coverage that once served as a safety net for protecting and managing net retentions is now scarcer and more expensive. With fewer options available for managing exposures, the need to better understand the potential for concentrated risk is critical.

RGA risk management service experts are available to assist and advise risk management teams at client companies through:
  • Methodologies for calculation of risk concentrations
  • Use of unique database to track volume at locations with various risk profiles to assist clients in risk management
  • Data mapping
