As Senior Vice President, Head of USMM Underwriting Jaime Correa leads the U.S. Facultative and Underwriting Services teams, supporting RGA’s U.S. Mortality Markets’ lead position in the U.S. This market leadership extends beyond traditional facultative services to include the development and management of innovative underwriting value-added services for RGA clients.
Jaime’s insurance career began in 1982 with The Travelers Insurance Company. In 1995 he was Director of Life Underwriting. That year, he joined the Latin American Division at RGA, and eventually went on to assume the leadership role of that division.
Since 2003, Jaime has led various businesses units at RGA including the Distribution Solutions, Life Product Services, Marketing Integration, and Underwriting Services teams
Jaime is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI). He holds a B.A. degree in American history from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.
Prior to joining RGA in 2006, Jeff was an Underwriting Manager with Symetra Financial. Before then, he was with Acacia/Ameritas Life as an Underwriting Consultant, and was Underwriting Manager and Life Claims Director for Primerica Financial Services.
Jeff is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and the Life Management Institute (FLMI), and is a Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU).
Kevin Bettis is an Underwriting Consultant for RGA Reinsurance Company and serves on the company’s Strategic Underwriting Program (SUP) team. He specializes in occupations, professional athletes and avocations.
Kevin received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance/accounting from Southeast Missouri State University. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). He has also achieved the designations of Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC), Associate, Customer Service (ACS), and Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA).
Prior to joining RGA, Elyssa was Assistant Vice President and Medical Director for MetLife. Her insurance career includes experience in disability lines and dates back to 2003. She has also practiced emergency, internal and sports medicine in her career, including for 12 years as a team and university physician at Wittenberg University. Elyssa has served as a preceptor at the University of Connecticut Medical School, where she taught clinical reasoning, and was a regular presenter in Quinnipiac University’s physician assistant and athletic training programs. She is also the former host of a live talk show on Clear Channel Radio entitled “House Calls With Dr. Lissy.”
Elyssa received her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Medical College of Ohio, and has completed post-graduate residencies in internal medicine at Miami Valley Hospital and at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She serves on the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM) scientific program committee for 2017 as well as the committee for the triennial AAIM 2018 conference. Elyssa also serves on the executive board of the Metropolitan Underwriting Discussion (MUD) Group.
Mark S. Dion is Vice President, Global Underwriting Strategic Innovation for the Global Underwriting Services Team at RGA Reinsurance Company. He is a subject matter expert regarding RGA’s underwriting innovations, facultative risk management in the U.S. division, new underwriter training, underwriting manual creation, underwriting activities for simplified-issue and bancassurance products, and automated underwriting rules development.
Since joining RGA in 1995, Mark has managed the conversion of RGA’s underwriting manual and provided the initial guidance and rules that led to the development of RGA’s underwriting technology initiatives, ASAP and AURA.
Prior to joining RGA, Mark was a senior underwriting consultant for Transamerica Reinsurance, the Vice President of Risk Management for Family Guardian Life Insurance Company (Citicorp), and before then an Underwriting Supervisor and Team Leader for AMOCO Life Insurance.
Mark’s Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in biology with a philosophy co-major is from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). He is a member and a subcommittee chair of the Society of Actuaries Life Insurance Mortality and Underwriting Survey Committee, a member of the Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) Program Committee, a member of the Illinois-Missouri Underwriter’s Association, and an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Dr. Lisa Duckett is Vice President and Medical Director for RGA Reinsurance Company. In this role, she provides support for facultative underwriting and underwriter education through presentations and one-on-one interactions.
Board certified in insurance medicine, internal medicine and geriatric medicine, Dr. Duckett was in direct patient care for 3 years prior to joining RGA. She began her insurance medicine career in 1998 at ING Reinsurance before moving to Met Life and Genworth Financial as medical director, with responsibility for underwriting education, manual revision, and older age underwriting.
Dr. Duckett served as the American Academy for Insurance Medicine (AAIM) planning committee chair for the education program in 2004-2005, and as President of the Midwestern Medical Directors Association (MMDA) in 2004.
Chris Fraley is an Underwriting Director for RGA Reinsurance Company. He specializes in underwriting professional athletes, aviation and avocations and his primary duties involve internal auditing.
Chris joined RGA in 2005 and has been underwriting for more than nine years.
Chris received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). He has also achieved the designations of Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC), Associate, Insurance Agency Administration (AIAA), and Associate, Customer Service (ACS).
Melissa Gallegos is a Senior Underwriting Consultant for RGA Reinsurance Company. Melissa leads the Foreign Risk team, and is responsible for underwriting production, and translating Spanish and Portuguese applications. Since joining RGA in 1996, she has also served as the underwriting consultant for RGA's Latin America Division. Melissa is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese.
Melissa received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in international business and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Spanish from Florida Southern College. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and of the Life Management Institute (FLMI).
Lars Haaland is Executive Director, Fac Exclusive SUP for RGA Reinsurance Company. In this position, Lars has responsibility for RGA’s Strategic Underwriting Program (SUP) and manages a team of six underwriters.
With more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry, Lars has a significant depth of underwriting and insurance knowledge. He began his career at American Express Financial Advisors, followed by senior underwriting roles at ING and ValMark Securities, Inc. before joining RGA in 2014 as a Senior Underwriting Consultant.
Lars received his Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Boston University and his Master of Arts in theory and counseling from Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota. He holds the Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) designation, and he is a contributor to insurance industry publications.
Michael Hesse is Assistant Chief Underwriter for RGA Reinsurance Company, with responsibility for large case reviews. Michael brings more than 25 years of life underwriting experience and expertise in financial underwriting to his current role.
Prior to joining RGA in 2015, Michael worked for Sun Life Financial International as Underwriting Director, focusing on high net worth offshore business. Before that, Michael was with Prudential for over two decades.
Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California and his M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI), an Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA) and a Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU).
In his role as Director, Underwriting, Michael Hill is responsible for internal and external audits. He is based in RGA’s global headquarters in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Michael joined RGA in 2005, and he has spent the majority of his time working in the underwriting department. Prior to his current role, Michael was an Account Manager on RGA’s Underwriting Services Team, focused on delivering e-Underwriting solutions to clients.
Michael is a published author, contributing an article, “NASCAR Safety Improvements Saves Lives,” that was published in the March 2012 issue of On The Risk, as well as “The Insurance Implications of Traumatic Brain Injury,” which appeared in the December 2013 issue of On The Risk. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Missouri, as well as an M.B.A. from Maryville University.
Cheryl is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). She has also earned LOMA's Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA) and Associate in Customer Service (ACS) designations.
Before coming to RGA in 2015, Dr. Kaufman served as Vice President and Chief Medical Director at MassMutual, Assistant Vice President and Medical Director at Sun Life Financial Canada, and Assistant Medical Director at Phoenix Home Life.
An active member of the insurance community, Dr. Kaufman has spoken on a variety of medical topics at local, regional and national industry meetings and coauthored an article for the Journal of Insurance Medicine. In addition, she is a past President of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM) and was Chair of the AAIM Education Committee from 2002 to 2009.
Dr. Kaufman received her M.D. degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College. She is a Diplomate of the Board of insurance Medicine (DBIM) and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
Miriam Krajewski is Head of Client Underwriting Training for RGA Reinsurance Company. In this role, Miriam has responsibility for the GULF program, a premier classroom and online training system for our clients around the world.
Prior to joining RGA in 2006, Miriam’s 20 year career focused on underwriting and claims in a variety of production and technical roles in Australia, with both direct carriers and reinsurers. She joined RGA’s Australian office as a senior underwriting consultant before moving to the technical manager role. In 2009 Miriam joined the International Division to help develop RGA’s new global client training program – GULF – along with providing underwriting technical oversight to our Asia businesses.
Miriam holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in accounting) from Deakin University, with a place on the Dean’s Honour List. She is a Fellow of the Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), a founding Senior Associate of the Australian Underwriting and Claims Association (ALUCA), and a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU), which she earned with distinction. She also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from NSW Technical and Further Education.
Miriam served two years on the ALUCA NSW committee, one as president. Since moving to St Louis in 2012, she has become a member and active participant in the Association for Talent Development, presenting at local chapter meetings.
Dr. Dave Rengachary is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Director for U.S. Mortality Markets at RGA Reinsurance Company. Prior to joining RGA in 2013, he was a general neurologist in practice at Missouri Baptist Medical Center where he also served as medical director for their Primary Stroke Center. He attended the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University.
Dr. Rengachary then completed an adult neurology residency at Washington University followed by a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology and board certification. He is the primary author and editor of the Washington University Neurology Survival Guide. He serves on the board of directors of Memory Home Care Solutions and the ABC Brigade, dedicated to Alzheimer’s and Stroke support respectively.
Dr. Rengachary is President of the Midwestern Medical Directors Association, Deputy Director of the Longer Life Foundation, Medical Consultant for the Academy of Life Underwriting, and a member of the Educational Committee of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine.
FALU, ALMI, ACS
Bonnie received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from McKendree University. She holds the Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and Associate Customer Services (ACS) designations.
Scott Sibley is a Senior Underwriting Consultant for RGA Reinsurance Company, focused primarily on providing facultative and Strategic Underwriting Program (SUP) support to RGA clients. He specializes in underwriting genetics, professional athletes and avocations. Scott helped create the SUP Manager System and the RGA Central website for clients and has assisted with training new underwriters.
Prior to joining RGA in 2012, Scott worked as a lab and pharmacy technician for Monsanto and Walgreen's.
Scott received a Bachelor of Science in biology with an emphasis in microbiology/biotechnology from Missouri State University. He is a Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU); a Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI); an Associate Customer Services (ACS), and an Associate of Reinsurance Administration (ARA).
Prior to coming to RGA, Viki had 17 years of experience as an underwriter with companies such as Security Mutual, ING/VOYA and Symetra.
Viki has a Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature from Binghamton University, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU); a Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI); and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). She has achieved the following designations: Associate, Customer Service (ACS); Professional Customer Service (PCS); Associate, Insurance Industry Administration (AIIA); Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC); Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA); and Associate, Annuity Products and Administration (AAPA).
Beth's career at RGA spans more than 35 years. She has supervised Retrocession Communications, worked in product development and treaty development. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and of the Life Management Instituted (FLMI), and is an active member of RGA's FALU Club. She also attended Maryville University, is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and has earned the Associate, Client Service (ACS) and Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA) credentials.
