Senior Vice President, Head of USMM Underwriting, ​RGA

As Senior Vice President, Head of USMM Underwriting Jaime Correa leads the U.S. Facultative and Underwriting Services teams, supporting RGA’s U.S. Mortality Markets’ lead position in the U.S. This market leadership extends beyond traditional facultative services to include the development and management of innovative underwriting value-added services for RGA clients.

Jaime’s insurance career began in 1982 with The Travelers Insurance Company. In 1995 he was Director of Life Underwriting. That year, he joined the Latin American Division at RGA, and eventually went on to assume the leadership role of that division.

Since 2003, Jaime has led various businesses units at RGA including the Distribution Solutions, Life Product Services, Marketing Integration, and Underwriting Services teams

Jaime is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI). He holds a B.A. degree in American history from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.

Vice President, Underwriting, RGA

Catie Muccigrosso is a Vice President, Underwriting Operations for RGA Reinsurance Company.  She is a team leader and primary underwriting contact for the East Business Development and Regional Pricing team.  She is also responsible for older age underwriting, simplified issue, and dynamic underwriting.

Catie, who has worked for RGA's underwriting department for nearly two decades, has actively participated in several of the department's programs and initiatives including the Strategic Underwriting Program (SUP) team and the Call Desk/ASAP team.  She also participates in client audits, is a member of the Underwriting Manual Review Committee, which supports both RGA's internal manual and RGA's Global Underwriting Manual (GUM), and is a member of RGA's University planning committee.

Catie earned her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in biology with a minor in psychology from Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri.  She has a Master's in Public Health (MPH) with a specialty in epidemiology from St. Louis University.  Catie is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU), a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and has achieved the Associate Reinsurance Administration (ARA) and Associate, Customer Service (ACS) credentials.  She is a former President of the Illinois-Missouri Home Office Association, is active with RGA's FALU Club, and has served on the ALU committee for almost a decade finishing her last year as an exam-writing coordinator.

Vice President, Underwriting Education and Training

Mark S. Dion is Vice President, Underwriting Education and Training for the Global Underwriting Services Team at RGA Reinsurance Company. He is a subject matter expert regarding RGA’s underwriting innovations, facultative risk management in the U.S. division, new underwriter training, underwriting manual creation, underwriting activities for simplified-issue and bancassurance products, and automated underwriting rules development.

Since joining RGA in 1995, Mark has managed the conversion of RGA’s underwriting manual and provided the initial guidance and rules that led to the development of RGA’s underwriting technology initiatives, ASAP and AURA.

Prior to joining RGA, Mark was a senior underwriting consultant for Transamerica Reinsurance, the Vice President of Risk Management for Family Guardian Life Insurance Company (Citicorp), and before then an Underwriting Supervisor and Team Leader for AMOCO Life Insurance.

Mark’s Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in biology with a philosophy co-major is from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). He is a member and a subcommittee chair of the Society of Actuaries Life Insurance Mortality and Underwriting Survey Committee, a member of the Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) Program Committee, a member of the Illinois-Missouri Underwriter’s Association, and an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Dr. Dave Rengachary is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Director for US Mortality Markets at RGA Reinsurance Company.  Prior to joining RGA in 2013, he was a general neurologist in practice at Missouri Baptist Medical Center where he also served as medical director for their Primary Stroke Center.    

Dr. Rengachary attended the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University.  He then completed an adult neurology residency at Washington University followed by a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology. He is the primary author and editor of the Washington University Neurology Survival Guide.  He serves on the board of directors of Memory Home Care Solutions and Oasis, non-profit organizations respectively dedicated to Alzheimer’s caregiver support and healthy aging.

Dr. Rengachary is Past-President of the Midwestern Medical Directors Association, Deputy Director of the Longer Life Foundation, Medical Consultant for the Academy of Life Underwriting, and a member of the Educational Committee of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine.

As Technical Director, Large Case Underwriting, Jennifer Lockwood handles large case underwriting and responds to foreign risk referrals, client capacity checks and jumbo notifications. She has 20 years of underwriting experience.

Prior to joining RGA in 2017, Jennifer was Senior Underwriting Consultant for Legal & General America, and has also served in similar roles for Securian and RiverSource.
Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts in organizational leadership from Bethel University. She is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU), a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI), and an Associate, Customer Service (ACS).

Vice President and Medical Director, RGA

Dr. Valerie Kaufman, Vice President and Medical Director, provides case consultation for life underwriters. She also trains RGA and client underwriters and assists with the development of RGA’s underwriting guidelines.

Before coming to RGA in 2015, Dr. Kaufman served as Vice President and Chief Medical Director at MassMutual, Assistant Vice President and Medical Director at Sun Life Financial Canada, and Assistant Medical Director at Phoenix Home Life.

An active member of the insurance community, Dr. Kaufman has spoken on a variety of medical topics at local, regional and national industry meetings and coauthored an article for the Journal of Insurance Medicine. In addition, she is a past President of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM) and was Chair of the AAIM Education Committee from 2002 to 2009.

Dr. Kaufman received her M.D. degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College. She is a Diplomate of the Board of insurance Medicine (DBIM) and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

Miriam Krajewski is Head of Client Underwriting Training for RGA Reinsurance Company.  In this role, Miriam has responsibility for the Learning Gateway, a premier online and classroom training system for our clients around the world.
 
Prior to joining RGA in 2006, Miriam’s 20-year career focused on underwriting and claims in a variety of production and technical roles in Australia, with both direct carriers and reinsurers. She joined RGA’s Australian office as a senior underwriting consultant before moving to the technical manager role.  In 2009 Miriam joined the International Division to help develop RGA’s new global client training program – Learning Gateway– along with providing underwriting technical oversight to our Asia businesses.

Miriam holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in accounting) from Deakin University, with a place on the Dean’s Honour List.  She is a Fellow of the Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), a founding Senior Associate of the Australian Underwriting and Claims Association (ALUCA), and a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU), which she earned with distinction. She also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from NSW Technical and Further Education.

Miriam served two years on the ALUCA NSW committee, one as president.  Since moving to St Louis in 2012, she has become a member and active participant in the Association for Talent Development, presenting at local chapter meetings.

Assistant Chief Underwriter, U.S. Mortality Markets

Michael Hesse is Assistant Chief Underwriter for RGA Reinsurance Company, with responsibility for large case reviews.  Michael brings more than 25 years of life underwriting experience and expertise in financial underwriting to his current role.

Prior to joining RGA in 2015, Michael worked for Sun Life Financial International as Underwriting Director, focusing on high net worth offshore business. Before that, Michael was with Prudential for over two decades.

Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California and his M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI), an Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA) and a Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU).
