Alka Gautam is an Executive Vice President, Global Operations of Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA) and serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of RGA Life Reinsurance Company of Canada (RGA Canada), a wholly-owned subsidiary of RGA. She is responsible for RGA’s Global Technology, Data & Analytics, Underwriting, Claims, Medical, Administration Operations, and Enterprise Program Management functions and leads all business activities for RGA Canada. She is a member of RGA’s Executive Committee.
Ms. Gautam joined RGA Canada in 2000 following 10 years with KPMG. She became RGA Canada’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer in 2006, was named its Chief Operating Officer in 2014, and in 2015 was named RGA Canada’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
Ms. Gautam received her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and M.B.A. degrees from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
Her long-term commitment to the re/insurance industry is reflected in her ongoing participation in several industry associations. Ms. Gautam is currently a member of the Board of Directors of LL Global for LIMRA and LOMA, member of its Board Executive Committee and Chair of its Compensation and Benefits Committee. She is a member and a past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA), the industry association counting 99% of Canada’s life and health insurance companies as members. She is a past Chair of the Canadian Reinsurance Conference. Ms. Gautam is also a member of the Board of Directors of RGA International Reinsurance Company dac and of the RGA Foundation.
