U.S. Mortality Markets
In her role as Senior Vice President, Head of Business Development, U.S. Mortality Markets, Kathryn Cox leads efforts to create and maximize reinsurance opportunities for RGA in the U.S., building on her successful track record in several areas within RGA. Prior to being named to this position in 2014, Kathryn led the U.S. Business Development team, where she filled three key positions, established the Client & Marketing Services team and collaborated with other business development and marketing units to achieve growth.
Kathryn began her career at RGA in pricing, and then led experience studies, performing extensive work rewriting existing programs and analyzing results. She later moved to the valuation area, where she managed GAAP, U.S. statutory, and tax reserves for RGA’s U.S., Australia and New Zealand portfolios.
In 1999, Kathryn became Account Manager in RGA’s Sydney, Australia office, where she was responsible for duties including pricing, treaty preparation, and management of the administration department. Kathryn returned to St. Louis in 2001 and assumed the role of Vice President, Retrocession Management, in which she was responsible for the development and management of the U.S., Canadian and International retrocession programs with automatic capacity over $30 million. In early 2006, Kathryn moved to her next role as Vice President, Sales and Marketing for the U.S. Midwest region. Her transition to this role was seamless, in view of the reputation and quality of relationships Kathryn developed in her previous roles, and her ability to understand client needs and respond with appropriate solutions.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Kathryn heads RGA’s fund-raising efforts for Operation Food Search, a nonprofit organization that supports those in need throughout the St. Louis region.
Kathryn is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has earned the FLMI designation from the Life Office Management Association. She graduated with a degree in actuarial science from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri.
