Head of USMM Underwriting


As Senior Vice President, Head of USMM Underwriting Jaime Correa leads the U.S. Facultative and Underwriting Services teams, supporting RGA’s U.S. Mortality Markets’ lead position in the U.S. This market leadership extends beyond traditional facultative services to include the development and management of innovative underwriting value-added services for RGA clients.

Jaime’s insurance career began in 1982 with The Travelers Insurance Company. In 1995 he was Director of Life Underwriting. That year, he joined the Latin American Division at RGA, and eventually went on to assume the leadership role of that division.

Since 2003, Jaime has led various businesses units at RGA including the Distribution Solutions, Life Product Services, Marketing Integration, and Underwriting Services teams

Jaime is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI). He holds a B.A. degree in American history from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.

Colin M. DeForge
Executive Director, Underwriting
U.S. Mortality Markets
In his role as Executive Director, Fac Exclusive, Automatic Selection and Assessment Program (ASAP) within U.S. Facultative Underwriting, Colin DeForge is responsible for facultative underwriting and is also the lead for RGA’s fraud, criminal history and credit reporting team. He joined RGA in 2015.

Prior to joining RGA, Colin was Director, Individual Life Underwriting Shared Services at Voya Financial. He has also served as underwriting manager for Phoenix Life Insurance Company in underwriting and life new business operations.

Colin received a B.S. in psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with minors in neuropsychology and business management.
Elyssa Del Valle
Elyssa Del Valle, M.D.
Vice President and 
Medical Director

Elyssa Marcus Del Valle, M.D., is Vice President and Medical Director for RGA Reinsurance Company. She is responsible for underwriting services for clients, and conducting training seminars and industry presentations as a member of the RGA U.S. Mortality Markets division. She has been with the company since 2016.

Prior to joining RGA, Elyssa was Assistant Vice President and Medical Director for MetLife. Her insurance career includes experience in disability lines and dates back to 2003. She has also practiced emergency, internal and sports medicine in her career, including 12 years as a team and university physician at Wittenberg University. Elyssa has served as a preceptor at the University of Connecticut Medical School, where she taught clinical reasoning, and was a regular presenter in Quinnipiac University’s physician assistant and athletic training programs. She is also the former host of a live talk show on Clear Channel Radio entitled “House Calls With Dr. Lissy.” 

Elyssa received her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Medical College of Ohio, and has completed post-graduate residencies in internal medicine at Miami Valley Hospital and at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She serves on the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM) scientific program committee for the triennial AAIM 2018 conference. Elyssa also serves on the executive board of the Metropolitan Underwriting Discussion (MUD) Group.  
Lisa Duckett
Lisa Duckett, M.D.

Medical Director 

RGA Reinsurance Company

Dr. Lisa Duckett is Vice President and Medical Director for RGA Reinsurance Company. In this role, she provides support for facultative underwriting and underwriter education through presentations and one-on-one interactions.

Board certified in insurance medicine, internal medicine and geriatric medicine, Dr. Duckett was in direct patient care for 3 years prior to joining RGA.  She began her insurance medicine career in 1998 at ING Reinsurance before moving to Met Life and Genworth Financial as medical director, with responsibility for underwriting education, manual revision, and older age underwriting.

Dr. Duckett served as the American Academy for Insurance Medicine (AAIM) planning committee chair for the education program in 2004-2005, and as President of the Midwestern Medical Directors Association (MMDA) in 2004.


Larry Fite
Larry Fite

Larry Fite is Director, Underwriting for RGA Reinsurance Company.  He provides facultative underwriting for U.S. Division clients, and is the lead auditor for client audits.

Larry has more than 30 years of experience in underwriting life insurance and reinsurance.  Before joining RGA in 2007, he was both a line underwriter and an underwriting manager with General American Life and with Metropolitan Life, underwriting both disability and life cases.  He is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU), and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI).
Michael Hesse

Michael Hesse is Assistant Chief Underwriter for RGA Reinsurance Company, with responsibility for large case reviews.  Michael brings more than 25 years of life underwriting experience and expertise in financial underwriting to his current role.

Prior to joining RGA in 2015, Michael worked for Sun Life Financial International as Underwriting Director, focusing on high net worth offshore business. Before that, Michael was with Prudential for over two decades.

Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California and his M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI), an Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA) and a Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU).  

Valerie Kaufman
Valerie Kaufman, M.D.
Vice President and Medical Director

Dr. Valerie Kaufman, Vice President and Medical Director, provides case consultation for life underwriters. She also trains RGA and client underwriters and assists with the development of RGA’s underwriting guidelines.

Before coming to RGA in 2015, Dr. Kaufman served as Vice President and Chief Medical Director at MassMutual, Assistant Vice President and Medical Director at Sun Life Financial Canada, and Assistant Medical Director at Phoenix Home Life.

An active member of the insurance community, Dr. Kaufman has spoken on a variety of medical topics at local, regional and national industry meetings and coauthored an article for the Journal of Insurance Medicine. In addition, she is a past President of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM) and was Chair of the AAIM Education Committee from 2002 to 2009.

Dr. Kaufman received her M.D. degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College. She is a Diplomate of the Board of insurance Medicine (DBIM) and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
Greg Meyer

Underwriting Consultant

As Underwriting Consultant, Greg Meyer is part of RGA’s U.S. Underwriting team, supporting both facultative underwriting and the Strategic Underwriting Program (SUP). Greg has been with the company since 2014, and is a subject matter expert on consumer credit, financials and occupations.

Prior to joining RGA, Greg had 10 years of experience in financial services, including seven years of experience as a mortgage underwriter with American Equity and Wells Fargo.

Greg received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU). He has also been accredited by LOMA as a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI); an Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA); and as an Associate, Customer Service (ACS).
David Rengachary
Dave Rengachary, M.D.

Chief Medical Director

U.S. Mortality Markets

Dr. Dave Rengachary is Senior Vice President and Chief  Medical Director for U.S. Mortality Markets at RGA Reinsurance Company.  Prior to joining RGA in 2013, he was a general neurologist in practice at Missouri Baptist Medical Center where he also served as medical director for their Primary Stroke Center.  He attended the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University. 

Dr. Rengachary then completed an adult neurology residency at Washington University followed by a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology and board certification.  He is the primary author and editor of the Washington University Neurology Survival Guide.  He serves on the board of directors of Memory Home Care Solutions and the ABC Brigade, dedicated to Alzheimer’s and Stroke support respectively.

Dr. Rengachary is President of the Midwestern Medical Directors Association, Deputy Director of the Longer Life Foundation, Medical Consultant for the Academy of Life Underwriting, and a member of the Educational Committee of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine.

Vicki Wells
Viki Wells
Senior Underwriting Consultant


Viki Wells is a Senior Underwriting Consultant for RGA Reinsurance Company, specializing in genetics and older-age underwriting. She joined the company in 2015.

Prior to coming to RGA, Viki had 17 years of experience as an underwriter with companies such as Security Mutual, ING/VOYA and Symetra.

Viki has a Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature from Binghamton University, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU); a Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI); and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). She has achieved the following designations: Associate, Customer Service (ACS); Professional Customer Service (PCS); Associate, Insurance Industry Administration (AIIA); Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC); Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA); and Associate, Annuity Products and Administration (AAPA).
