The award recognizes RGA as a company that "shows consistent strong financial performance, offers superior service and security to clients, and displays the ability to adapt to market and industry changes." A distinguished panel of insurance industry leaders selected RGA from among the largest life reinsurance companies in the world.
Judges lauded RGA for its astute global expansion and noted that, when it comes to setting standards in the life reinsurance business, RGA is typically a market leader. Judges called RGA a “smart operator” and recognized that RGA sets the example that other life reinsurers are compelled to follow.
Jason Groves, Editor of The Review, added: "RGA deserves special praise for its recent moves into the Korean and Chinese markets, which have been long-identified as sources of likely substantial growth. It is proof, if more was needed, that in every sense RGA is a market leader."
"It is a tremendous honor," said Greig Woodring, Chief Executive Officer of RGA, "to be awarded 'Life Reinsurance Company of the Year' for the second straight year. It is both recognition of the leading position RGA holds in the life reinsurance industry and a testament to our clients that we are the world’s preferred life reinsurance partner."
The Review award comes on the heels of other impressive industry recognition of RGA, which was named "Best Overall Life Reinsurer" in the recent 2005 Flaspohler Cedant Survey (Life – North America). RGA was also given top honors for underwriting capabilities, timely service, financial value, strong client orientation, market knowledge/expertise, innovation, quality actuaries, and leading technology.
Graham Watson, Chief Executive Officer of RGA International, stated: "The life insurance industry has sent a clear message that RGA is the global life reinsurance leader committed to providing clients unrivaled service, expertise and risk management solutions. We thank The Review for the recognition; we are certainly very proud of the honor they have bestowed upon us."
