Heather M. Lund, MBBCh, is Vice President and Regional Chief Medical Officer, Asia, at RGA, bringing more than 20 years of experience across clinical medicine, insurance medicine, and strategic medical leadership and expertise for the company’s operations across Asia Pacific. 

Based in Hong Kong, Heather partners with senior leaders, clients, and cross-functional teams to provide medical insight and practical guidance across underwriting, claims, product development, pricing, in-force management, and emerging health trends in Asia. She is recognized for translating complex clinical evidence, evolving healthcare practice, and market-specific considerations into practical, commercially relevant insurance insights and strategies. 

Since joining RGA in 2015, Heather has contributed to regional and global initiatives spanning medical underwriting, claims governance, product development, genetics and pandemic risk workstreams, and medical technology assessment. She has supported product innovation and risk frameworks across multiple Asia markets, including initiatives addressing super-aged populations, removing friction from the customer journey, and expanding insurance access among underserved populations. 
Heather is a frequent speaker and facilitator at client, industry, and internal forums, where she provides insights on medical advances, impactful mortality and morbidity trends, underwriting innovation, inclusive insurance, and claims risk. She has helped lead regional medical thought leadership, training, and knowledge-sharing programs designed to strengthen technical capability and consistency across teams. 

A South African-trained physician, Heather earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and has a clinical background in family medicine, with particular experience in maternal health. Prior to RGA, she served as a medical officer for Hannover Re in South Africa. She has also served on program committees for the International Committee for Insurance Medicine (ICLAM) and the Academy of Insurance Medicine in Asia (AIMA), and has contributed to medical and insurance publications.
