Head of Administration Operations, US Individual Markets
Jeff Birkholz is Senior Vice President, Head of Administrative Operations for RGA’s US Individual Markets (USIM) division. In this role, he is responsible for all administration and claims functions of USIM, including premium reporting and controls, assumed and ceded reinsurance administration, and data strategy.
His oversight spans critical areas such as financial control and client audit, where teams manage premium accruals, analysis, and internal/external audits; assumed administration and reporting, which ensures accurate cession and premium data loading and trend analysis; treaty development and execution; and advanced analytics and data strategy. Jeff’s leadership ensures operational excellence, robust governance, and innovative use of data to enhance client service and strengthen RGA’s competitive position.
Jeff started his career as an associate underwriter in the employee benefits division of Northwestern National Life Insurance Company (NWNL) in Minneapolis. After three years, Jeff moved to the reinsurance industry, joining Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (formerly NALAC) as a marketing manager, where he managed a block of special risk reinsurance. Jeff rejoined NWNL (subsequently ReliaStar and then ING) in 1990 in their group reinsurance division and held roles in underwriting, business development, and market/product development with the last 10 years prior to the RGA acquisition focusing on management of the operations functions and oversight of a large block of run-off business.
Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI).
