John J. Gauthier served as Chief Investment Officer of Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, AG., a  global provider of insurance and reinsurance solutions, from 2008 to 2018. John also served as President of Allied World Financial Services Company, Inc. from 2012 until his retirement in 2018.

Before joining Allied World, John was a Managing Director with Goldman Sachs Asset Management, a division of Goldman Sachs & Co. While there, he held the roles of Global Head of Insurance Fixed Income Asset Management and Vice President – Head of Insurance Fixed Income Asset Management.

Prior to his roles at Goldman Sachs, he was with Conning Asset Management, where he held positions of increasing responsibility culminating in Director of Investment Strategy for Conning’s property-casualty insurer clients. Previously, he was with General Reinsurance/New England Asset Management and The Travelers.

John earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in computer information systems from Quinnipiac College (now University), and his M.B.A. in finance is from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), he is currently on the board of directors of the Middlesex Hospital Association, and is a past board member of MatlinPatterson Asset Management, Blue Vista Capital Management, and Direct Surety.

John was named to RGA’s board in 2018.
