Maurice Tulloch is the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Aviva, where he led efforts to simplify the organization, strengthen commercial discipline, and improve customer outcomes.
Over a career at Aviva spanning more than 25 years, he held a wide range of senior leadership roles across geographies and business lines, including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Aviva Ontario, President and CEO of Aviva Canada, Chairman of Global General Insurance, and Chief Executive Officer, International, with responsibility for operations across Europe and Asia. As Group CEO, he set out to re-energize the company by excelling at the basics and delivering simpler, faster, more convenient service to customers. British-born and now a Canadian citizen, he is recognized for his expertise across both property and casualty and life insurance and for his early advocacy of data analytics and artificial intelligence to drive business performance.
Since leaving Aviva in 2020, Maurice has pursued a portfolio career focused on corporate directorships and advisory work. He currently serves on the boards of PSP Investments, one of Canada's largest public pension funds, and Porch Group Inc., a Nasdaq-listed software company. His previous board and industry leadership roles include Aviva plc and its subsidiaries, Pool Re, The Geneva Association, the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the Insurance Development Forum, ClimateWise (which he chaired), the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the Property & Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation (which he chaired), and the Insurance Institute of Canada (which he chaired). A longtime champion of talent and sustainability, he has supported alignment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and climate change research at Cambridge University.
He holds a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Waterloo.
