As Regional Head of Underwriting, Claims and Medical for Asia, Paul Jones oversees all the biometric risks of RGA’s traditional life and health business across the Asia Pacific, leveraging RGA’s strong technical expertise and further developing the company’s strategies related to value creation and risk management. He is based in RGA’s Hong Kong Branch.
Paul has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, having worked for direct insurance and reinsurance industries in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Switzerland. Prior to joining RGA in 2014, Paul worked for Pacific Life Re, first as the Head of Underwriting and Claims in Singapore, and later for Pacific Life Re’s UK operations. Paul’s career also includes nearly 10 years as the Head of Underwriting Asia, Life & Health, for Swiss Re, based in Zurich, and two years as Director of Underwriting for Cigna’s Life, Accident & Health international business, based in Singapore.
Paul has presented at numerous international underwriting and actuarial industry conferences across Asia on a range of subjects, including underwriting innovations, insurtech, product underwriting. and pandemic risks. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds a Diploma in Life & Disability Underwriting with the Assurance Medical Society in the UK.
