Tony Cheng is President and Chief Executive Officer of Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA), a global industry leader specializing in life and health reinsurance and financial solutions. Under Tony’s leadership, RGA has strengthened partnerships with insurers around the world to advance RGA’s purpose to make financial protection accessible to all, setting new benchmarks for organic growth, in-force management, and capital optimization. In 2025, RGA generated $23.7 billion in total revenues and ended the year with $4.3 trillion of life reinsurance in force. 

Tony joined RGA in 1997 as Chief Actuary of Malaysian Life Reinsurance Group Berhad, RGA’s joint venture with the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia. In 2004, Tony was named Chief Executive Officer of RGA’s Hong Kong office, responsible for all business activity in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, and in 2011, he was named Senior Vice President, Asia, an expanded role incorporating overall management of RGA Asia. He then served as Executive Vice President, Head of EMEA, Asia, and Australia before being named RGA President in 2023. 

Tony also serves as Chair of the Longer Life Foundation, a not-for-profit collaboration between RGA and Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine that supports innovative independent research by scientific, medical, and public health experts to make discoveries that will improve long-term mortality, enhance longevity, and promote healthier lives.

He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis’ John M. Olin School of Business. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA). As an active participant and past President of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong, he has also served as a council member of the Society and as a past Chair of its Experience and Life Committees.
