Crisis Extension cover provides long-term cover for more serious events that generally require additional care and financial support. To obtain Crisis Extension cover it must be taken out with Priority Protection Crisis Recovery insurance.

MLC Life Insurance launches Mindset4Life program for customers on claim. Press release, November 24, 2020.
MLC Life Insurance is launching a new mental health support program for customers diagnosed with depression and anxiety. The MindSet4Life program provides tailored support services to customers on health literacy, physical health and nutrition.
This program is offered to all customers with an active income protection claim.

Canada

Foresters Financial launches new critical illness insurance. Press release, November 9, 2020.
Live Well Plus and Live Well are critical illness insurance plans. Live Well has an issue age of 18 to 55 years. It covers cancer, coronary artery bypass surgery, heart attack, and stroke. The term option is 10 to 20 years or up to the age of 80. Live Well Plus also includes a built-in Return of Premium at Death benefit, along with three optional riders (Waiver of Premium, Return of Premium on Surrender or Expiry, and a convertible Juvenile Critical Illness).

Hong Kong

FTLife Launches HealthCare 168 Plus Critical Illness Protector. Press release, November 9, 2020.
HealthCare 168 Plus Critical Illness Protector plan offers two first-in-market features. It provides additional
financial support for three common Severe Urban Diseases (cancer, stroke, and severe heart attack), as well as protection against the loss of functionality of key organs.

India

Max Life Insurance launches critical illness rider and a wellness app. Mint, December 9, 2020.
The insurer has launched the Max Life Critical Illness and Disability Rider and with it the Max Fit, a comprehensive wellness program. The rider offers protection from up to 64 critical illnesses and has a flexible payment option. It can also be attached to 11 of Max Life’s existing plans.

Aegon Life Insurance launches Life+36 critical illness insurance on Flipkart. Financial Express, November 2, 2020.
Aegon Life Insurance has announced the launch of Life + 36 critical illness Insurance on Flipkart. The cost of a premium is just Rs. 153 for a life cover of Rs 1 lakh plus critical illness cover of Rs. 10,000. It covers up to 36 critical illnesses. This plan is available on the Flipkart app instantly along with the base life insurance plan.

Kotak Life forays into health insurance. Financial Express, October 22, 2020.
Kotak Health Shield is a comprehensive health insurance plan. It covers most critical illnesses under one product. The plan offers a daily hospitalization benefit, waiver of premium on being diagnosed with minor conditions, and an income benefit if diagnosed with major conditions.

Japan

Daido Life launches severe disease insurance (cancer cover stage III & IV) “Cancer limited stage J-Type”. Press release, December 1, 2020. (Text in Japanese)
The plan has an issue age of 15 to 70 years. The policy period is five to 10 years and is renewable up to age 85. A lump sum benefit is paid for a diagnosis of stage III or VI cancer or predefined cancer, or for a predefined condition continued for more than 60 days due to acute MI or stroke.

FWD Fuji launches “FWD Cancer Best Gold”. Press release, November 2, 2020. (Text in Japanese)
FWD Cancer Best Gold whole life has an issue age of 0 to 80 years. It includes a cancer diagnosis benefit, which is paid up to once a year and is unlimited for the entire policy period. The following riders can be added: non-PHI anti-cancer drug treatment rider and cancer income support rider.

Kenya

Liberty Life rolls out critical illness cover. Business Daily, October 23, 2020.
Liberty Life Assurance has launched a critical illness product, the Hekima plan. The plan has an issue age of 18 to 60 years. Disabilities covered under the plan include the permanent loss of sight, loss of hearing in both ears, permanent loss of speech, major burns, loss of two limbs, and inability to take care of oneself.

Malaysia

Insurance plan launched two new guaranteed acceptance products to help more Malaysians. Money compass, November 25, 2020.
AmMetLife has has launched a whole life plan, ProtectEase, and critical illness rider, CriticalEase, both with guaranteed acceptance. Customers can now obtain life insurance and critical illness insurance without having to complete a financial or medical assessment. ProtectEase provides comprehensive cover for death together with CriticalEase, a rider that covers 38 types of critical illness.

Pakistan

Jubilee Life introduces Ujala Insurance Plan. Press release, October 29, 2020.
The Ujala Insurance Plan offers a cancer protection supplementary benefit along with other insurance riders at a modest additional cost. It is available via the bancassurance channel. The plan also gives the option to obtain a second medical opinion.

Philippines

Manulife launches HealthFlex, a customizable health insurance plan offering flexible critical illness coverage. Press release, October 12, 2020. 
Manulife Philippines has launched HealthFlex, an innovative and accessible life and health insurance solution. HealthFlex allows customers to choose the right critical illness protection for them. It has an issue age of 0 to 70 years.

Singapore

Spend on your card to build free insurance cover, a new way of getting protection. Life Insurance International, December 14, 2020.
A new concept has been launched in Singapore, whereby consumers can build insurance coverage as they spend on their card in popular retailers. With SnackUp, customers can choose to build coverage in term life, critical illness, or personal accident insurance, with merchants contributing $100 worth of insurance coverage to customers’ individual portfolios.

United Kingdom

AIG checks out of ‘conditions race’. Press release, October 19, 2020.
AIG Life Limited has today unveiled a different approach to critical illness (CI) insurance, which throws out the idea that every condition it pays on needs to be listed. It has grouped over 20 conditions under four broad headings. These groups focus on specific surgeries or the impact on daily life for customers, not the name of the illness.

United States

Triple-S Vida enters Florida, Texas markets with life and cancer insurance. NimB, October 24, 2020.
The cancer insurance the company will be marketing initially in Texas and Florida, with options starting at $15, pays benefits directly to the policyholder at the time of a first cancer diagnosis. Customers may also add other benefits such as compensation for organ transplants, accidental death, and hospitalizations for covered illnesses.
