Long COVID-19: Where are all the claims?

Two years into the pandemic, more than 300 million people have been infected, with 2.3% to 37% of COVID-19 survivors reporting ongoing symptoms consistent with a diagnosis of long COVID-19.

Yet from an insurance standpoint we are not seeing a tsunami of long COVID claims.
Why is this?

Dr. John Lefebre, Vice President and Senior Medical Director for RGA, discusses some possible explanations and takes a further look at the medical issues that may affect COVID-19 survivors and impact underwriting and claims adjudication.

At RGA, we are eager to engage with clients to better understand and tackle the industry’s most pressing challenges together. Contact us to discuss and learn more about the RGA capabilities, resources, and solutions.
